March 2017

Join us at noon, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 for a CLE presentation on:

THINGS YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THREE MONTHS AGO ABOUT THE RECENT CIVIL RULES AMENDMENTS,
presented by Milton Hathaway.

Your lunch choices are Sliced Roast Beef Sandwich or Caprese Sandwich (both served with Seasonal Fruit). Please RSVP with your lunch choice by no later than Friday, March 24, 2017.

There will be a sign-up sheet at this meeting. If your name is not highlighted, please do not take a meal card. Once everyone has signed in we will hand out any leftover meal cards. Only those persons who have RSVP’d by March 24 will be highlighted.

The presentation will touch briefly on the creation of the Arizona Supreme Court’s Task Force on the Arizona Rules of Procedure, its mission and guidelines, and some of the more significant substantive Civil Rules amendments that went into effect on January 1st of this year. The presentation will qualify for 1.0 CLE Credit.

Supreme Court Oral Arguments in Sedona
Tuesday, April 25, 2017
The Arizona Supreme Court will be hearing oral arguments on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, starting promptly at 10:00 a.m. The arguments will take place at the Sedona Performing Arts Center, which is located on the campus of the Sedona Red Rock High School. The high school is located at the west end of Sedona, just off of SR 89A, one of the main roads that runs through Sedona.

The oral argument is open to the public as well as to the high school students of Red Rock High School and other surrounding high schools. That's because the SC visit is an outreach program designed to expose students and the public generally to the work of the SC.

The Performing Arts Center has a seating capacity of 750.

There are two cases on the Court's calendar for argument. They are both civil cases. The schedule that I have so far been provided lists the cases as follows:

10:00 a.m. CV-16-0192-PR A.B.v. Hon. Lynch/G.O.
10:45 a.m. CV-16-0248-PR Ernest Quiroz et ux v. Alcoa Inc et al.
